Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's our process?

Our process may vary on a case-by-case basis. Depending on your needs, our team will work with you via phone consultations, quick inspections, and more to help you determine which services will be best for your case. Our general process begins with an inspection of the property, or properties, in question. Soon after inspection, our experts provide drawings, notes, EagleView satellite renditions, photographs/video, and an up-to-date Xactimate report of our findings. Inspectors are then available for phone/video conferencing, depositions and trials should the need arise.

Q: What is the timeline for completed reports and estimates?

As with any case, findings and complex scheduling arrangements can delay our usual timeline. For a standard exterior and interior inspection, our reports and documented findings have a turnaround time of two weeks. Written reports and commercial building documentation may take longer depending on many variables. Be sure to speak to one of our team members regarding an estimated time. Rush services are also available.

Q: What's the difference between Principal and Associate Inspector?

All of our experts are just that, experts! Our inspectors have over 20 years of roofing, claims adjusting, estimation, catastrophic claim valuation, appraisal and expert witness experience. Our Principal Inspector, and Owner, is Jared Mellick. Jared is not only the above, he is also the successful owner of Universal Roof & Contracting, Renewal by Anderson of Florida and Mellick General Construction. Our Principal inspector is highly sought after for his tenure in expert witness services, deposition and trial procedures and knowledge in Florida Building Code. As you can imagine, his knowledge and expertise are in high demand and therefore will have limited flexibility in scheduling. Our Associate Inspectors have had similar experiences but have more flexibility in their schedules and are solely dedicated to you and your inspection. Our associate inspectors often consult with our Principal inspector, so you can be sure your estimate will be the most accurate and precise.

Q: Who Uses Your Services?

Mellick and Associates is a business-to-business expert witness and reporting service. Our main clientele are law firms specializing in catastrophic/storm damage denials. However, in the past we have worked with public adjusters, engineers, and insurances.
